Where no fan has gone before

July 11-12-13, 2008, Baltimore, star trek convention

You all know that I generally don't judge people. I am as open-minded and media-unspoiled as any baby can get these days. But it was quite a challenge to keep this highly desirable personality trait of mine intact with all those "fans" around… but everybody was really nice, even the pirates, Star Wars junkies, and hairy Potters.

I have to admit this: I loved, loved, loved the Klingons. And the Klingons loved me, even the drunk ones. Or maybe I should say, especially the drunk ones. They even let me dance on the table while they sang " Ej im-ta fey de-ja ee", fire their disruptor to get out of prison, and gamble some dough away. It was a nice evening. And I even proved my bravery by purchasing a tribble just moments before Cirano was exposed and thrown out. I call mine Mr. Tribbles and hide him under my bed. And no, I don't feed him.

The next day I was in my celebrity phase. I openly expressed my support of gay marriages to George Takey (or whatever his name was) while he was playing with my rocket shoes. You know, you have to be patient with these elderly actors... Then I revealed my "frak writers' strike" attitude to the Sheppard guys and found out that Mark is the same frakking arrogant bastard as Romo since he won't even tell me who the last cylon is. Like I care!

And at 9 pm I proved once and for all that my mom's really lost it. She made me stand on the podium in a Klingon outfit, long black wig, and plush Batleh. As a result I won the "most adorable fan" award. What can I tell you? I was so humiliated that I made daddy take me away before the end and mom had to go for the trophy by herself. I mean, it was her doing in the first place… so what?!

Overall, it was fun. The nylon-stockings-guy will probably haunt my dreams for years to come but other than that, Shoreleave was a blast. No pun intended. Seriously, knock it off!
